SC receives writ against Mayor Balen Shah on Singha Durbar garbage dispute

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) received a writ against Kathmandu Metropolitan City and its Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) on the dispute over the metropolis’s refusal to pick up garbage from Singha Durbar.

Advocate Padma Bahadur Shrestha filed a writ against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Sunday after it (the metropolis) did not pick up the garbage inside the Singha Durbar.

The preliminary hearing on the registered writ petition is scheduled for Tuesday.

The writ petitioner has argued that public health has been seriously affected due to the negligence and irresponsible behavior of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Balen, the mayor of Kathmandu metropolis, posted a status on Facebook eight days ago saying that the Metropolis would not pick up any waste from the Singha Durbar for the latter’s non-cooperation.
