International Tamang Council’s fifth conference to be held in Thailand

KATHMANDU: The fifth conference of International Tamang Council will be held in Bangkok of Thailand.

According to Council general secretary Mohan Gole, the event has been scheduled to take place on June 3-4 this year and it will be attended by around 500 representatives including over two dozens of Council permanent members across the world, national and affiliate members.

Tamang Society Thailand and Tamang Society Myanmar are given the major responsibility for organizing the event, Council Vice Chair Tashi Lama said.

The international conference aims to promote the unity among the Tamang community across the world and interlink their cultural, social and economic aspects of the life for the cause of the community as a whole.

It will elect a new leadership for the Council. The Chair of the Council shall be the event hosting country and it will be from Thailand.

Now KM Tamang who is associated with All India Tamang Buddhist Association, India holds the post of the Council Chair since the fourth Mirik Conference held on December 14-16, 2018.
