Beni-Jomsom road to remain closed for six hours a day

BENI: The Beni-Jomsom road that connects Mustang to the national highway is to remain closed for six hours a day beginning from Friday.

According to the District Administration Office, Myagdi, the decision to cease the traffic is for carrying out landslide preventive works along the Rupse Falls area in Annapurna rural municipality-3, for the construction of a Bailey bridge and for the road widening works.

Myagdi Assistant Chief District Officer, Dhirendra Raj Pant, traffic won’t be allowed along the Rupse section from 6:00 am to 9:00 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm from March 17 to 28.

However, the road won’t be closed for three days in the mid: from March 20-23 in view of the Chaite Dashain festival as a large number of devotees are expected to visit Kagbeni to observe the festival.

The administration is to come up with additional provisions for emergency vehicles and ambulances.
