Black box of crashed airlines found

KATHMANDU: The “black box” of Yeti Airlines, which crashed in Pokhara on Sunday morning, has been found.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Anil Shahi, a black box was recently found at the accident site.

Nepal Army, Armed Police and Nepali Army have been carrying out the rescue operation since morning.

The bodies recovered from the accident sites have been kept in the mortuary of the Gandaki Institute of Health Sciences. Only 26 of them have been identified. However, the post-mortem of the body has not been done yet.

The 5-member investigation committee formed by the government will find out the cause of the accident mainly on the basis of “black box”. Black box records all flight information.

The black box contains information such as the aircraft’s speed, altitude, vertical acceleration and engine fuel flow.

A block box mainly consists of 2 components. Flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder. The box records the conversation between the pilot and the air traffic controller at the airport.

The recording between the pilot and the ATC is for a minimum of 2 hours. Flight data records up to 25 hours.
