KATHMANDU: The Mahasamiti committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, initially slated for January 1-4, 2024, has been postponed.

According to NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi, the decision to this effect was made during Friday’ Central Work Performance Committee meeting.

Originally scheduled for January next year, the Mahasamiti meeting was deferred to avoid coinciding with the National Assembly elections.

The Mahasamiti meeting is expected to be held on February 19-22, 2024.

Leader Nidhi highlighted the strategic move, considering the simultaneous occurrence of the two crucial events.

In addition to the rescheduling, the meeting resolved to officially register the party with the Election Commission in preparation for the upcoming National Assembly elections.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s directive to candidates was also endorsed during today’s meeting.

Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel received authorization at the meeting to oversee the party’s registration process and manage other related tasks.

The Nepali Congress, Paudel said, aims to synchronize its internal proceedings with the broader political landscape as it gears up for the upcoming electoral challenges.
