Fake Bhutanese Refugee Scam: Former lawmaker Angtawa Sherpa surrenders to Police

KTAHMANDU: Former lawmaker of Nepali Congress (NC) Angtawa Sherpa surrendered to Nepal Police on Monday evening.

According to AIG Shyam Lal Gyawali, Sherpa, against whom an arrest warrant had been issued on May 12, surrendered himself to Kathmandu Valley Police Office today.

Earlier, Sherpa had allegedly met Sanu Bhandari and Keshav Dulal, who were earlier arrested in the refugee case and asked them not to mention the name of former Home Minister and NC leader Bal Krishna Khand. After Khand was arrested, the police issued an arrest warrant against Sherpa for investigation.

But Sherpa absconded turning off his mobile.

With this, the number of people arrested in connection with the refugee case has reached 14.
