Nation-wide Immunization Week from April 24



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population will observe a nationwide immunization week from April 24-30.

The Ministry aims to administer full vaccination to the left out children in the context when the number of children who have missed the doses of vaccine and when chickenpox and rubella have surfaced, said Dr. Bibek Kumar Lal, Director of the Family Welfare Division under the ministry.

As part of the campaign, information about full vaccines will be provided through various communication mediums from the second week of April, and children left out of vaccination would be identified, he said.

Similarly, a regular vaccination program will be launched from April 28 to May 14, and all health institutions will provide vaccines to the left-out children.

All educational institutions will be informed about coordination to launch a special vaccination program at special places like brick factories, industries, and special communities from where a majority of children have been left out of vaccination, carry out a survey in households as per the national full vaccination directives at the ward, and health institutions and authenticate the guarantee of a full vaccination at all wards and local levels through the meeting of the municipal ward vaccination coordination committee, and monitor the vaccination card distribution for children below five years of age, who are newly enrolled at schools from coming academic session.

All local levels have been asked through the Ministry of General Administration to make the immunization week a success, said Dr. Lal.
