PM Dahal planning to seek vote of confidence on March 20

Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has planned to take the vote of confidence on March 20. According to Maoist Center sources, Prime Minister Dahal has started preparations to take the vote of confidence from the House of Representatives again on March 20. Dahal, who was appointed as the Prime Minister on December 25, took the oath of office and secrecy on December 26.

NC instructs its MPs to vote for Vice Presidential candidate Yadav

The Nepali Congress (NC) party has decided to support Janata Samajwadi Party’s Vice Presidential candidate Ramsahay Yadav. NC Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the party’s Central Execution Committee meeting held on Wednesday decided to vote for Yadav.

RPP not to take part in vice presidential election

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided not to participate in the vice presidential election. RPP leader Mohan Shrestha said that a meeting of the party’s central performance committee held on Wednesday decided to remain neutral in the vice-presidential election. The voting for the election of the Vice President is scheduled to take place on March 17.

Budget deficit crosses over Rs 1.56 trillion in eight months

The government of Nepal’s budget deficit as of eight months of the current fiscal year 2022/23 has surpassed Rs 156 billion 440 million, according to the details unveiled by the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO). The government has spent Rs 779 billion 230 million of its budget as of mid-March this year while revenue collection has remained at Rs 622 billion 781 million 400 thousand.

One dies in road accident

A woman died in a road accident that took place in Hetauda sub-metropolis-11, Thanabharyang of Makawanpur along the East-West Highway this morning. A vehicle (Madhes Province 03-001 Cha 6943) en route to Hetauda from Nawalpur had hit the woman, aged around 40, at 5.50 am today.

Nepal improves in ODI ranking

Nepal has improved its ODI ranking by one position in the International Cricket Council. In the ODI rankings updated by the ICC on Tuesday, Nepal improved by one place and climbed to the 16th position.

Vice Presidential election: Silence period comes into effect

The silence period for the election of the Vice President has come into effect today. According to the Election Commission, the election silence commences 48 hours before the day of voting and it will remain in effect until the closure of the polling center.

Govt extends term of Air Crash Probe Commission

The government has decided to extend the term of ‘Aircrash Probe Commission’ formed to probe the crash involving a Yeti Airlines aircraft by 45 days. A cabinet meeting held on March 14 took the decision to this effect, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.
