SC hearing case against 52 constitutional appointments from today

KATHMANDU: The final hearing of the case against 52 officials appointed in various constitutional bodies is taking place today (Wednesday) in the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court (SC).

After the hearings were repeatedly affected, the Supreme Court on July 27, 2022, ordered to make arrangements so that the hearing was held and the case would not be adjourned.

Today’s final hearing has been scheduled according to the SC’s order.

A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court saying that the meeting of the Constitutional Council meeting was convened without proper procedure and that the names were recommended based on an ordinance when CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli was the Prime Minister.

Advocate Om Prakash Aryal and others demanded that the appointment of the constitutional officials should be canceled saying that there are many constitutional, legal and procedural errors during the appointment.
