Fake Bhutanese Refugee Case: Bal Krishna Khand to be released on bail of Rs 30 lakhs
The Patan High Court has ordered the release of Bal Krishna Khand, a leader of Nepali Congress and former Home Minister, from custody pending trial in the fake Bhutanese refugee case. The court granted bail to Khand, amounting to Rs 30 lakhs, following a final hearing on Thursday. This decision upholds the order previously issued by Judge Janak Pandey on December 1.
Remittances surge to Rs 4.78 trillion in four months
In the first four months of the current year (up to November), remittances witnessed a substantial surge, reaching a staggering Rs 4.78 trillion, reflecting a remarkable growth of 26.4%. This uptick surpassed the 20.4% increase observed during the same period in the previous year. Breaking down the figures, remittances in US dollars experienced a commendable rise of 23.1%, amounting to Rs 3.6 billion.
Govt effortful to remove Nepal’s air space from EU blacklist: PM
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government was determined to make Nepal’s air safety systematic. Receiving a memorandum submitted by a delegation led by Acting Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dol Prasad Aryal, Prime Minister Dahal mentioned that the government was effortful to remove Nepal’s air space from the blacklist of the European Union.

Gold price up by Rs 2,800 per tola today
Gold price increased by Rs 2,800 per tola in the Nepali market today. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold was fixed at Rs 118,800 per tola and standard gold was traded at Rs 118,250 per tola. The precious yellow metal was valued at Rs. 116,000 per tola, and standard gold at Rs. 115,450 per tola on Wednesday.
Inflation declines to 6.01% in food sector
The Nepal Rastra Bank’s recent data release for October-November signals a decline in prices, with an annual point consumer inflation of 5.38 percent over the past four months. This marks a notable decrease from the 8.08 percent inflation observed in the same month last year.
