NC Parliamentary Party meeting to conclude today

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party is concluding today.

As the deliberations spanned from Friday through Sunday, with 50 MPs participating and sharing their insights, and with more members intending to contribute their perspectives, the party has chosen to extend the meeting until Monday, according to NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak.

“The NC legislators are sharing their viewpoints. By Sunday evening, 50 lawmakers had articulated their stances,” he stated.

“Today (Monday), as additional colleagues present their opinions, we will wrap up the meeting, during which pivotal proposals will be ratified,” he said.

Lekhak stated that the Parliamentary Party meeting will reconvene at Lhotse Hall in New Baneshwor at 11 am today.

On the previous day, NC lawmakers also advocated for the establishment of a high-level committee to probe the case of one-quintal gold smuggling.

It is worth noting that the primary opposition party, CPN-UML, is impeding the parliamentary proceedings, demanding the constitution of a high-level committee to investigate the gold smuggling incident.

Prominent NC leaders such as Shekhar Koirala and Pradeep Paudel concurred with the UML’s viewpoint that a high-level investigative committee should be established.
