DSP Bista relieved from responsibility after tension with transport workers in Balaju



KATHMANDU: The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Police Circle, Balaju has been relieved of his duties following the tension created on Monday due to the protest of transporters.

During the protest, Balaju police chief DSP Rabin Bista’s vehicle Ba 2 Jha 144 was vandalized and set on fire. Balaju police vehicle Ba 1 Jha 7224 was also vandalized.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, the Valley Police Office refrained Bista from his duties to strengthen the security system as per the need after the incident. DSP Manojit Kunwar has been sent to substitute Bista in Balaju.

When the traffic police increased the fines, the demonstration turned violent, and resulted in vandalism and arson in the bus park, Machhapokhari and other areas. At the bus park, the mob broke into the mobile shop and looted it.

The police are carrying out a detailed investigation into the incident.
