NC, Maoist Center candidates vie for Gandaki Speaker



POKHARA: Krishna Dhital of CPN (Maoist Center) and Saraswati Aryal of Nepali Congress (NC) have fielded their candidacies for the post of Speaker at Gandaki Province Assembly.

According to Gandaki Province Assembly Secretariat, Dhital was proposed by Phanindra Devkota and supported by Roshan Bahadur Gahathapa on behalf of ruling alliance and Aryal was proposed by Dilliram Subedi and supported by Takraj Gurung on behalf of NC.

The candidacies would be presented in the Province Assembly meeting for discussion and consideration.

The ruling alliance of CPN-UML and Maoist Center has however already made agreement that UML would get Chief Minister and Maoist Center the Speaker.

As per agreement, UML parliamentary party leader Khagraj Adhikari has become Chief Minister and even secured the vote of confidence.

Among 60 members in Province Assembly, Nepali Congress has 27, CPN UML 22, Maoist Centre eight, RPP two and independent one.
