Sudurpaschim to re-vote for Speaker on Saturday evening



DHANGADHI: The re-voting for the Speaker of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly is scheduled for 6 pm, Saturday.

The Provine Assembly Secretariat informed that the all-party meeting held today agreed to go for re-voting today.

Earlier, no candidate could get majority in the voting held on 11th January.

Then there was a dispute about re-voting. As a result, the meeting of the provincial assembly was postponed indefinitely.

According to the Secretariat, the preparations for the re-voting have been started after the parties agreed to go for revoting.

CPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Bhim Bhandari from ruling coalition and Man Bahadur Rawal from Nepali Congress have filed candidacy for the Sudurpaschim Speaker.

As there are 53 MPs in the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, the candidate should get the support of 27 MPs to claim for the post.

Sudurpaschim Province Assembly comprises 19 MPs of Nepali Congress, 11 Maoist Center, 10 CPN (UML), seven Nagarik Unmukti Party, four CPN (Unified Socialist), one Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent MP.
