SC orders show cause on writ filed against PM Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) issued a show-cause order on the writ petition filed against Maoist Center Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and former Maoist leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai for allegedly using child soldiers during the decade-long Maoist insurgency.

A single bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla on Tuesday issued a show-cause about the use of child soldiers after hearing the pleading on the writ.

Lenin Bista, a “child soldier” during the Maoist insurgency, had on Friday filed a writ against Dahal and Dr. Bhattarai.

Bista has in the writ claimed that the use of child soldiers during the insurgency period was a “crime against the international humanitarian law”.
