KATHMANDU: The ACC U-19 Premier Cup kicks off today in Malaysia, and Nepal is playing against Iran in their opening match.
With an eye on securing a spot in the U-19 Asia Cup, Nepal has received a relatively favorable draw for their first game.
Nepal finds itself in a group alongside Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, as they aim to finish among the top three teams in this 16-team competition to secure a coveted place in the U-19 Asia Cup, scheduled for December.
To achieve their aspirations, Nepal’s primary goal is to dominate the group stage, clinching victories in all three matches.
Their ultimate aim is to advance to the semi-finals, secure a win in the final, and emerge as champions, thereby punching their ticket to the U-19 Asia Cup.
In pursuit of this dream, Nepal may potentially face challenging opponents like the UAE, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, representing other groups in the competition.
Nepal’s next encounters in the ACC U-19 Premier Cup are scheduled against Bahrain on October 15 and Saudi Arabia on October 19, making every match a critical step toward their quest for U-19 Asia Cup qualification.
