KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order on the petition filed against the formation of the Koshi province government.

A single bench of Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan issued an interim order to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa-led government not to take any long-term impact decision until the case is settled.

Outgoing Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki registered a writ in the Supreme Court against the government formed under the leadership of Nepali Congress Koshi Province parliamentary party leader Uddhav Thapa validating Province Assembly Speaker Baburam Gautam’s signature.

There was widespread criticism in the Federal Parliament regarding the process of forming the Koshi government.

SC also ordered Koshi Province head Parshuram Khapung to show the reason for validating the Speakers signature in government formation.
