Woman allegedly forcing girls into flesh trade nabbed in Nuwakot

BIDUR: The Nuwakot police arrested a woman on the charge of forcing Nepali women into flesh trade in India.

A team from the Nuwakot district police office acting on a tip- off from a victim held Hering Dolma Tamang, known as Sonam, from Bidur, the district headquarters.

Tamang of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-1 in Nuwakot district has been accused of purchasing Nepali women from agents and forcing them into being sex workers in India. She is said to be running a brothel in India.

The police made the arrest of her while heading to Rasuwa from Kathmandu when she visited Nepal, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka.

The police have launched investigations after the district court remanded her to seven days in custody, he said.

“We have arrested her acting on complaints filed by two victims. Kumar Tamang has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for luring Nepali girls and selling them off in India. The case of Sonam is linked with Kumar. We are investigating the case,” he said.
