Maoist factions making public their stance on TRC today

To organize an interaction on March 14

KATHMANDU: Factions of the Maoist stream, including the ruling Maoist Center, are holding a joint press conference to make public their views regarding the incidents during the “People’s War” era and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

Deputy Secretary General of Maoist Center Janardan Sharma said they have decided to hold a press conference on March 12 (Sunday) and a joint interaction on March 14.

The interaction will be held among the political forces who have contributed to the peace process.

The parties are concerned after a writ petition was registered at the Supreme Court against the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in the case of conflict-era incidents.

CP Gajurel, leader of CPN Revolutionary Maoists, said that the cases related to conflict-era incidents should be decided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Disappearance Investigation Commission, not by the courts.

He said that the interaction will focus on this topic.

Leaders of the Maoist component as well as civil society, lawyers, journalists and stakeholders related to the peace process will be invited to attend the interaction on March 14.
