Nepali women football team departing to India to play friendlies



KATHMANDU: Nepali National Women Football team will be leaving here for India on Monday for the FIFA friendly matches to be played against India on Feb 15 and 18ths in Chennai.

ANFA member-secretary Tankalal Ghishing, vice-chair Bir Bahadur Khadka and general secretary Kiran Rai bade farewell to the 30-member team comprising 23 players at the Satdobato-based ANFA complex today, wishing for its success in the competition.

The team includes Ananta Raj Thapa as a head coach for the team while Anjila Tumbapo Subba (captain), Anjana Rana Magar and Usha Nath as goalkeepers.

Hira Kumari Bhujel, Ghim Kumari Gurung, Amrita Jaisi, Gita Rana, Nisha Thokar, Bimala BK and Samikshha Ghimire are defenders and Bimala Chaudhary, Sabita Rana Magar, Saru Limbu, Dipa Shahi, Renuka Nagarkoti, Anita Basnet, Preeti Rai and Anita KC are midfielders and Amisha Karki, Rekha Poudel, Sabitra Bhandari, Rashmi Kumari Ghising and Nirmla BK forwards.

Commenting over the team’s preparations, the head coach said the “Team combination is good,” hoping to a competitive match between the two nations. As he said, though India is a well set and empowered nation in the South Asia in terms of women football,  Nepal expects to find a happy ending.
