Patan Court orders release of Sandeep Lamichhane on bail

The Patan High Court has ordered the release of former captain of the Nepali national cricket team, Sandeep Lamichhane, on bail. He was accused of raping a minor. Sandeep filed a petition in the Patan High Court against the order of the Kathmandu District Court to keep him in custody and proceed with the proceedings in the rape case.

PM Dahal and UML Chair Oli discuss cabinet expansion at Baluwatar

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli held talks on cabinet expansion and other issues on Thursday. UML Chairman Oli reached Prime Minister’s official residence to hold talks with Prime Minister Dahal, who is preparing to expand the cabinet after he got a vote of confidence on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Giri and two ministers take oath in Lumbini Province

Leela Giri, who was appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. Lumbini State Chief Amik Sherchan administered the oath to Giri.

Govt requests for more doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Gavi

The government has sought additional 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to administer booster doses in view of increasing infection in neighbouring countries.  The Ministry of Health and Population today wrote to the ‘Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunisation (GAVI)’ for additional dispatch of vaccines.

Home Minister Lamichhane stresses on effective law enforcement

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has directed the security bodies for effective law enforcement.  Talking to journalists at Bharatpur Airport today, he said he has instructed the Chief District Officers (CDOs) throughout the country to work with high morale.

CIAA’s former commissioner Pathak convicted in graft case

The Special Court (SC) Kathmandu has convicted former commissioner at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Rajnarayan Pathak in a graft case and sentenced him to jail in three years and three months.

Police chiefs transferred in all seven provinces

The government has transferred 17 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Nepal Police. Police Headquarters, Naxal, transferred 17 DIGs on Thursday according to which Shyamalal Gyawali has been transferred to Province-1. Earlier he was in charge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

German Ambassador pays courtesy call on PM Dahal

German Ambassador to Nepal, Dr. Thomas Prinz, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Thursday. During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the two touched on issues relating to bilateral relations, mutual interests and common concerns, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

NEPSE index plunges over 41 points to close at 2,149.41

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has decreased 41.02 points to close at 2,149.41 on the last trading day of the week today. Similarly, the sensitive index has also dropped 7.89 points to reach at 411.25. Out of the total 13 subgroups, 12 decreased.

83 percent construction of Postal Highway completed

Around one and a half decade into construction, 83 percent work on the Postal Highway has completed. It takes around three years for the national pride project to complete.

Tiger, rhino found dead inside CNP

A Royal Bengal tiger and a rhino were found dead inside the Chitwan National Park. The male tiger aged around 15 years was found dead on Wednesday at the Narayani river bank of Champa Salghari area in Amaltari, and the rhino aged about five years at Sauraha area, said the CNP information officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari.
