Govt preparing to amend law to withdraw Resham Chaudhary’s case

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to introduce a law to withdraw the case of Resham Chaudhary, who was found guilty in the Tikapur massacre and is currently in jail.

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has registered Some Nepal Act Amendment Bills in the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

According to officials at the Law Ministry, the Nepal government is going to amend the law to make sure that the case against any political faction engaged in violent activities reaching an agreement with the government to enter into peaceful politics can be withdrawn.

In order to return Resham Chaudhary’s case, the government is going to add Section 116 (A) after section 116 of the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074BS, sources said.
