KATHMANDU: Meteorologists have predicted that there will be increased rainfall across the country on Monday and Tuesday compared to previous days.
However, they have clarified that continuous rainfall is unlikely.
The Weather Forecasting Division, meanwhile, has issued a warning, urging people to exercise caution due to the risk of floods and landslides during the monsoon season.
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane stated, “Today and tomorrow, we can expect intermittent rain in many parts of the country, with periods of rainfall followed by breaks.”
The meteorologists attribute the anticipated increase in rainfall to the movement of the low-pressure line of the monsoon.
It has shifted towards the western part of Nepal, and towards the northern region in the eastern part, compared to its previous position.
This shift creates favorable conditions for more rain today and tomorrow than in preceding days, according to them.
Meteorologist Binu Maharjan explains if the monsoon line moves towards Nepal from India, it results in increased rainfall.
Currently, the monsoon line is positioned towards India, leading to excessive rainfall and affecting daily life in India.
However, meteorologist Binod Pokhrel contradicted this forecast, stating on Twitter that there is no immediate possibility of heavy rain in Nepal.
Meteorologist Lamichhane reports that light to moderate rainfall is occurring in a few places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and isolated areas in Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
This afternoon, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two locations in Koshi and Gandaki.
Tonight, heavy rain is expected in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini.
