Court grants three-day-remand against former Home Minister Khand

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted three-day-remand against Former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Balkrishna Khand who was arrested on charges of cheating by making fake Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America.

The Kathmandu District Court, on Wednesday, allowed Khand to be detained for three more days for investigation.

He was arrested on Wednesday morning for his involvement in the fake refugee case.

According to District Police Complex Kathmandu, the police have so far arrested 12 people in this case.

The then minister and CPN-UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi is currently out of touch after the arrest warrant was issued in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.

After the arrest warrant was issued against party secretary Rayamajhi, UML had been defensive till Tuesday.  UML suspended Rayamajhi from the post of Secretary on Wednesday.
