KATHMANDU: The Nepali nationalities returning from foreign employment are allowed to bring two mobile phones.

Earlier, they were only allowed to bring only one mobile phone after completing the due custom process.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday evening took the decision to this effect upon the proposal put by Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, according to Minister Mahat’s Secretariat.

For the migrant Nepali workers abroad bringing in two new mobile phones, they should produce evidence that they have obtained labour permit and have continuously worked in the destination country for six months.

As per the notice issued on May 28 in 2020, there was a provision to permit bringing one each set of desktop computer or laptop, tab, wrist watch, camera, video camera and the mobile phone being used.

The latest decision of the Council of Ministers has allowed the returnee migrant workers to bring one more unused/new mobile phone with them provided they have labour permit and have worked for at least six months.
