HoR meeting adjourned due to UML’s obstruction

KATHMANDU: The session of the House of Representatives (HoR) came to an early closure as the proceedings were continually disrupted by members of the CPN-UML.

Lawmakers from the CPN-UML, the principal opposition party, voiced their demands through spirited slogans, urging the establishment of a high-level committee to probe the gold smuggling allegations.

Their forceful slogans echoed within the chambers as they converged around the central area, calling for the immediate formation of a high-level inquiry committee.

In response, Speaker Devraj Ghimire made the decision to adjourn the session, with the next meeting scheduled for 1 pm on Friday.

In Tuesday’s session, Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha assured the Parliament that a thorough government-led investigation into the gold smuggling case would take place.
