Pro-republican parties vow to protect republicanism

KATHMANDU: The pro-republican parties, including the three major forces that met on Tuesday under the initiative of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, have affirmed their determination to oppose the activities of the pro-monarchists and anti-change factions.

Following a meeting held at Singha Durbar, Maoist Center Vice Chairperson Pampha Bhusal emphasized that the senior leaders of the parties, who have dedicated their lives to advocating for change, have collectively agreed to confront any anti-change endeavors.

“We, the parties who have ardently fought for the republic and transformative reforms throughout our political careers, stand firmly in support of the current system,” she asserted.

“The republic emerged after enduring a prolonged struggle within the Constituent Assembly. Subsequently, we conducted two elections. Nonetheless, it’s imperative that the system is periodically evaluated and addressed,” she added.

She revealed that during the meeting, the top leaders of the three parties reiterated their commitment to the Federal Democratic Republic and their readiness to defend its integrity.

“The top leaders reiterated their unwavering commitment to democracy,” she stated. “Despite facing challenges akin to water blisters, the parties remain steadfast in their united resistance.”
