MANAHARI, MAKAWANPUR: Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has argued that there would not be drastic change in the health sector until the Medical Education Act was amended.

At a press meet organized by the Nepali Congress, Makawanpur committee at Hetauda today, Minister Basnet warned that there would be no doctors in Nepal after five years if the Medical Education Act is not amended, saying that he was doing homework to create an environment conducive for the study of medical science and nursing education in Nepal by amending the Act.

He further said the country can not provide quality health services if the production of skilled health workers in health sectors is not increased.

Stating that the Ministry had been working continuously to end the crisis and aberration surfaced in the health sector, the Health Minister, however, claimed there was a drastic change in services of government hospitals after he took responsibility as the health minister.

Further positive changes would be seen in the health sector within the next six months, according to him. He also shared that he was active round-the-clock to implement basic health services to people.
