Top leaders fail to reach an agreement on ending Parliament obstruction

KATHMANDU: The highly anticipated meeting of the top leaders from the three major parties aimed at resolving the Parliament obstruction issue ended inconclusively today.

The meeting is scheduled to reconvene this afternoon.

Due to the lack of consensus among the parties, the House of Representatives meeting — initially planned for 1 pm on Monday — has been rescheduled to 4 pm.

During the discussion, involving Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, no agreement was reached as the UML party remained steadfast in its demand for the formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe the one-quintal gold smuggling case.

The CPN-UML has been obstructing the House of Representatives demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe into the one-quintal gold smuggling case.
