Koshi Province government unconstitutional: Dr. Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, former Prime Minister, has stated that the formation of the new government in Koshi province is unconstitutional.

In a social media post, Dr. Bhattarai expressed his concerns, highlighting the paradoxical behavior of those who previously united to protest against KP Oli’s violations of the Constitution, now engaging in anti-democratic actions in Koshi Province.

“In the past, we joined forces to protest against KP Oli’s unconstitutional acts. With the backing of the court and the people, we claimed success in preventing regression,” he stated.

“However, today, these same individuals are repeatedly involved in activities that undermine the Constitution and democracy. This raises the question: Who will safeguard the Constitution and democracy? How can the actions of Koshi Province be justified?”

Dr. Bhattarai’s remarks followed the recent appointment of Uddhav Thapa, a leader from the Nepali Congress, as Chief Minister, with the support of Speaker Baburam Gautam.
