KATHMANDU: The Intra-national Welfare and Support Foundation of USA has drawn the attention of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane towards the plight of the Bhutanese refugees in camps in Jhapa and Morang districts.

A delegation led by the Secretary of the Foundation, Gopal Dhital, met Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane and requested the Nepal government take serious note about the refugees in Nepal.

In the memorandum handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Foundation has said that it is very painful to live as a refugee in the country of one’s own ancestors and has requested the government to take initiatives to return the Nepali-speaking Bhutanese back to Bhutan with dignity or give them citizenship of Nepal or to send them to a third country for resettlement.

The Foundation is established by Nepali-speaking Bhutanese businesspersons and philanthropists resettled in the United States.

With the goal of preserving and promoting Nepali language and culture, the Foundation has also announced two reality shows named ‘Mero Voice Universe’ and ‘Mero Dance Universe’ for Nepali speakers across the globe.
