KATHMANDU: Today’s match between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier has been abandoned due to rain.

Though the match was scheduled to take place at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the competing teams even failed to engage in a toss and agreed to end the game by sharing one point each.

With this, the UAE in the Group ‘A’ has reached the semifinal by becoming the winner and Nepal has also set its place in the semifinal as the runner-up from the Group ‘A’ itself.

It may be noted both teams had accumulated equal points from previous five matches and were declared the winner and runner-up on the basis of the net run rate.

Nepal will be meeting a team who winner from the Group B in semifinal on September 8 and it could progress to the final, it will be qualified for competing in the 2024 Global T20 World Cup Qualification.

In Group B, Hong Kong currently leads the tournament with the accumulations of 6 points from three matches, while Thailand is in second position with 5 points.

The match between Hong Kong and Thailand is scheduled to take place today itself and Nepal will face a winner in the semifinal while the UAE will meet a runner-up in the semifinal.

Nepal so far is unbeaten in the group-stage match. It has defeated the host Malaysia by five runs, Bahrain by 10 wickets, Bhutan by three wickets and Qatar by nine wickets.
