KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has come to the defense of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda following his recent statement, which has sparked controversy and led to demands from CPN-UML for the PM’s resignation.
A meeting of the ruling coalition took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, where they criticized the main opposition party UML’s demand for Prime Minister Dahal’s resignation as “unparliamentary” and imprudent.
Rajendra Pandey, a leader of the Unified Socialist Party, stated that during the meeting of the ruling alliance, it was decided that the UML’s demand was unparliamentary, and Prime Minister Dahal was not required to resign.
Furthermore, the meeting also concluded that Prime Minister Dahal would provide a clarification of his statement in Parliament.
“The CPN-UML obstructed the Parliament on Wednesday, citing Prime Minister Dahal’s recent remarks about Sardar Pritam Singh repeatedly going to Delhi to ensure Dahal’s appointment as Prime Minister,” Pandey stated.
He further mentioned that the CPN-UML has been continuously disrupting the Parliament sessions by persistently demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Dahal.
Meanwhile, the ruling Maoist Center has also defended PM Dahal’s remarks saying that his statement was misinterpreted.
