Petitioner’s lawyers demand investigation on high-level leaders allegedly involved in scam

KATHMANDU: Lawyers representing the petitioner have called for an inquiry into the alleged involvement of high-ranking officials in the Fake Bhutanese Refugee case.

Emphasizing the importance of combating corruption, the lawyers argued that without investigating the high-level leaders implicated in the corruption, it would be impossible to control such misconduct.

Today, three lawyers presented arguments on behalf of the public prosecutor’s office, and additional advocates joined in representing the petitioners during the debate. Six other lawyers also took part on the debate.

During the proceedings, advocate Hari Prasad Kharel urged the court to order an investigation into the individuals mentioned in the case’s statement.

As supporting evidence, he submitted a pending fraud case from the district court and mentioned how the court gave order to book the named people for investigation.

“In this particular case, defendants Sanu Bhandari, Keshav Dulal, and Teknath Rijal have implicated individuals such as Ajaykranti Shakya, Arju Rana Deuba, Manju Khand, Bechen Jha, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, KP Oli, Premkumar Rai, and others,” Kharel said, adding, “To ensure public confidence in the justice system and effectively address such issues, the court should direct an investigation into these individuals.”
