KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to claim the leadership of the Koshi province government.
The NC Koshi Province Parliamentary Party meeting held on Tuesday afternoon decided to claim the leadership of the government as the largest party in the ruling alliance.
After the party meeting, Himal Karki, the deputy leader of the province parliamentary party, informed that as the largest party in the alliance, it has a claim on the leadership of the government.
He said that he would take the initiative to form a government under his leadership and that he would discuss with the parties in the coalition.
“After the CPN-Maoist Center and Janata Samajbadi Party withdrew their support to the CPN-UML-led government, the discussion for the new government formation has started,” he said, adding, “As the largest party in the coalition NC decided to form the government under its leadership.”
However, Karki clarified that the ruling alliance’s decision of the top leadership would be accepted by the province committee.
