Not necessary for PM to seek vote of confidence: Ruling coalition



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling alliance meeting held on Saturday concluded that Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda need not take a vote of confidence.

Maoist Center’s whip Hitraj Pandey said that the meeting held at Singha Durbar on Saturday evening made the decision to this effect.

He said that even if the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) withdrew its support to the government, there is no constitutional provision to take a vote of confidence.

The main opposition CPN-UML says, meanwhile, said that taking a vote of confidence is an issue of morality.

The RSP withdrew its support to the government on Friday.
