Memo submitted to PM to re-open Kimathanka checkpoint



KATHMANDU: A memorandum has been submitted to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ demanding re-opening of the Nepal-China border checkpoint in Kimathanka of Sankhuwasabha.

The memo was handed over to the Prime Minister on Wednesday, said Chairperson of Bhotkhola rural municipality, Wang Chhodar Bhot.

The transit point remains closed for the past three years following the coronavirus pandemic.

Chair Bhot shared that Bhotkhola folks have been facing difficulty due to shutdown of Kimathanka checkpoint since long. Locals of Bhokhola have to walk up to four to five days to reach Khandbari, the district headquarter of Sankhuwasabha.

He further said they urged Prime Minister Dahal to take initiative to re-open the checkpoint as soon as possible. Attention of the Prime Minister was drawn, saying daily life of the people has been affected and hunger might take place due to closure of the checkpoint since long, mentioned Bhot.

On the occasion, PM Dahal assured of taking necessary initiative to help re-open the checkpoint.
