Loktantrik Nagarik Abhiyan calls for reform in electoral system



KATHMANDU: The Lokatantrik Nagarik Abhiyan or Democratic Citizen Campaign has been on a relay hunger strike for the last 11 days at local Maitighar Mandala, calling for reforms in the electoral system for the protection of democracy.

The Abhiyan has also put forth demands as adopting primary elections, the provision of no-vote, and recalling the elected representatives.

Abhiyan convenor Nandaraj Upadhyaya said the hunger strike would be continued until issues like a guarantee of democracy with full justice and voting right to Nepali citizens, among other demands, are addressed.

The Jaya Mahankal Youth Group has also extended its support to the hunger strike.
