TRC should deal with “People’s War” cases, not court: Dr. Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that even though the prime minister can be sued, cases of “People’s war” should be handled by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, not the civil court.

Bhattarai took to Twitter on Monday saying that although the Prime Minister can be sued, according to the peace agreement, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission should handle the cases of “People’s War”.

“It does not mean that the incumbent Prime Minister cannot be sued. I have appeared in the court several times,” he said, “But according to the peace agreement, the TRC will deal with civil war cases, not the regular court. The same is true of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.”
