Police nab two at TIA for smuggling 186 grams of gold



KATHMANDU: The police have detained two individuals attempting to conceal approximately 186 grams of a substance resembling gold, as they attempted to bypass customs at Tribhuvan International Airport’s arrival tunnel gate.

The apprehended individuals, identified as 40-year-old Sangeet KC and 42-year-old Sunita Shrestha KC from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16 Balaju, were intercepted upon their arrival from Bangkok via a Nepal Airlines flight.

During the inspection, officials discovered Sangeet in possession of two pieces of gold-like metal and a ring, while Sunita was found carrying two pieces of similar metal weighing 91 grams. Subsequently, both were arrested.

The suspects have been transferred to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office Gauchar for further investigation and necessary legal procedures.
