RSP withdraws support to Dahal-led government

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to withdraw its support to the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government. A joint meeting of the party’s Central Committee and Parliamentary Party held at the party office in Basundhara on Friday decided to withdraw its support to the government.

Social justice, good governance and prosperity are govt’s priorities: PM

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that his government was advancing firmly for the strengthening of the republic and implementation of the constitution by according top priority for social justice, good-governance and prosperity.

Loan-sharkers to be imprisoned upto 7 years

Loan-sharkers (individuals collecting high-interests through unfair transaction) will be imprisoned for up to 7 years and fined up to Rs 70,000. The government has amended some Nepali Acts and included punishments to loan sharkers making unfair transactions. The Ordinance has been published in the Nepal Gazette on Friday.

Nepal signs diplomatic ties with Nauru

Nepal signed diplomatic ties with Nauru. The Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, Amrit Rai, and the Permanent Representative of Nauru Ambassador Margo Deiye signed a joint communique in New York establishing the diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to Nepal’s Mission to the UN in New York.

Ubhauli would further help transfer tradition to new generation: Speaker

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire said the Ubhauli festival would further help transfer culture and tradition to new generations. In a message delivered on the occasion of Ubhauli festival today, he said, “The grand festival of Kiranti community of Nepal would leverage mutual harmony and tolerance among the Nepali people and further consolidate social unity, peace and reconciliation”.
