SC issues Show Cause against OAG on Lamichhane’s passport dispute related case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order against the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) decision not to prosecute Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman Rabi Lamichhane on a passport dispute-related case.

Hearing on the petition filed against OAG for the latter’s alleged favor against Lamichhane, the single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal on Wednesday asked the Attorney General’s office the reason for not prosecuting the case.

After the Attorney General decided not to prosecute Lamichhane’s passport case, a writ was filed against it.

Sindhuli’s Yuvraj Paudel ‘Safal’ filed the writ at SC on Sunday and it was registered on Monday.

The police had earlier investigated Lamichhane in this connection.

Earlier, the police and public prosecutor’s office had decided not to pursue the case related to passport misuse.

Against the decision not to proceed with the case, Safal filed a writ petition with the OAG as an opponent.
