It’s high time all groups under Maoist Movement should go united: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called on all the groups and factions of the Maoist Movement to come at one place.

Addressing a program in which the Maoist leaders who were together during the People’s War period were present, PM Dahal urged all the groups affiliated with the Maoist Movement to come for party unity.

Leaders Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Netra Bikram Chand, Dharmendra Bastola among others were present on the occasion.

The program was organized on the last day of the Martyrs Week which the Maoist Centre has been observing on the14th-21st of Falgun every year. An interaction was organized by the Foundation of Children of Martyrs and Disappeared Fighters.

CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Dahal on the occasion said although the Maoist Movement has not become weak, there is need for unity once again as the Movement’s impact has diminished due to the splits and divisions in the Movement into various groups and factions.

He said it has become intolerable to some powers after the present government made decisions as recognizing the People’s War Day as a National Day and publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette for declaring the people who died in course of fighting the People’s War as martyrs. He argued that this was time for working rather than talking loud.

“The government has been one after the other carrying out works like honoring the People’s War, the People’s Movement, and those who attained martyrdom and who were made to disappear in these movements. The reactionaries have been terrorized by this. They are once again fearing the Maoists and are throwing invectives against the Maoist Movement,” he said.

Stating that he has been fighting against the reactionary forces through work, the Maoist Centre Chair opined that the martyrs who have set a record of history and sacrifices will not be defeated just by the reactionaries’ phantoms. He called upon one and all to tear the falsehood being spread against the Maoist.

The Prime Minister also urged all the Maoist groups to come to a single place and make a commitment to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the martyrs and the disappeared persons. If we can do this, it would be the day of victory, he said.
