RSP ministers tender resignation
Three ministers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have resigned on Sunday evening. The ministers submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar. Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Dol Prasad Aryal; Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Shishir Khanal; and Minister of State for Health and Population Tosima Karki submitted their resignation to PM Dahal.
RSP quits PM Dahal-led government
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to quit the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”. A leader informed that a crucial meeting of the meeting held on Sunday decided to quit the government. According to a central member, the party, however, will continue its support given to the government.
RSP Chairman Lamichhane vents anger at media; says he became a victim of media attacks
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane vented anger at what he said to a couple of “mainstream media and editors” for trying to push him to the corner. He said he did not get enough support from the media and stated that he was haunted and pursued wherever he went, and whatever he did. In a press conference held after the meeting of the party’s central committee and the parliamentary party, Lamichhane complained that he was surrounded by “evil eyes” with bad intentions.
NC suffers like fish without water while out of power: KP Oli
Chairman of CPN-UML KP Oli has said that the main opposition party in the parliament Nepali Congress (NC) is floundering without being able to come to power. Speaking at a special time in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, he accused NC of trying to create chaos and instability in the country. The UML chairman Oli stated that NC has been feeling restless since the formation of the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government and has been suffering like a fish without water while out of power.
European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen visiting Nepal
European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen is arriving in Nepal on February 8 for an official one-day visit to meet Nepali leaders and launch several EU actions in the country. Commissioner Urpilainen’s visit comes at an important moment as Nepal is preparing to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2026, thus reaffirming the European Union’s strong and unwavering engagement with Nepal, including through the recent launch of the Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) for Nepal for 2021-2027.

Nepal’s first Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Himalaya Shumsher Rana passed away this morning. Thapa passed away this morning at the age of 95 while being treated at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu.
SC orders defendant deposition in Resham Chaudhary’s case
The Supreme Court has ordered the deposition of the defendant in the case related to former lawmaker and Nagarik Unmukti Party leader Resham Chaudhary on Sunday. Leader Chaudhary had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding that the sentence of life imprisonment against him should be revoked.
President to address joint session of Parliament on Feb 10
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to address a joint session of the Federal Parliament on coming Friday. According to Spokesperson for the Office of President, Sagar Acharya, the President will, in accordance with the Article 95 of the Constitution be addressing a joint sitting of the both House of the Parliament on February 10.
