KATHMANDU: The government has outlined a set of approximately a dozen key agendas for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to China.
Foreign Minister NP Saud revealed these crucial agendas during a press conference held in Solukhumbu this morning.
“Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to embark on an official visit to China, and the agenda for this visit encompasses a wide range of topics, spanning from agricultural development to the opening of northern checkpoints and road infrastructure improvements,” stated Saud. “Discussions will also revolve around the grants promised by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Nepal in 2019.”
Highlighting that there are more than 12 checkpoints along the northern border with China, the discussions will additionally address the operational aspects of these border points.
Saud emphasized that the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister will present proposals aimed at advancing hydropower projects near the China border, including those in Kimathanka.
Furthermore, the agendas for Prime Minister’s upcoming China visit will encompass various infrastructure projects, including the construction of transmission lines from Rasuwa and Kimathanka, the development of the east-west highway, the Seti Corridor initiative, road construction from Hilsa to Surkhet, the Nuwakot-Chhahare tunnel construction, and the enhancement of the Kodari Highway.
In addition to these topics, healthcare matters such as the expansion of the Civil Hospital and Bir Hospital will also be a part of the discussions during the China visit.
Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to depart for China from the United States on September 22. Prior to that, he will be leaving for the United States on September 16 to participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.
