KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged the government and political leaders to create an environment for presenting the federal education bill in the parliament soon.

Addressing the inaugural session of the first National Conference of School Management Committee organized by the Community School Management Committee Federation here today, Speaker Ghimire said although there has been a big change in the political sector, there has not been a fundamental change in community school’s education.

He clarified that he would play a role to forward the federal education bill once it is presented in the parliament.

“Laws related to education should be implemented. You have to hold a discussion about why you have not got results of the investment made in the education sector,” mentioned Speaker Ghimire.
The constitution has guaranteed the rights of each citizen to basic education, he shared, adding although basic education is free, it has not been implemented.

Laying emphasis on the need for increasing quality of the education for economic, social, and cultural reforms, the Speaker said there is still a situation in the country in which the general people are compelled to admit their children in private schools for their better education even after cutting expenses.

There is the participation of the school management committee of all 753 local levels across the country in the two-day conference.
