Discussions begin to celebrate Prithvi Jayanti



KATHMANDU: Discussion has begun on how to celebrate Prithvi Jayanti at a time when the posts of office-bearers of three academy including Nepal Academy remain vacant.

Nepal Academy, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and Nepal Academy of Music and Drama and Cultural Undertaking jointly organize programs on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti every year.

Term of all office-bearers of Nepal Academy came to an end on December 15, 2022.

The term of Chancellor and Member-Secretary of Nepal Academy ended on October 7.

Similarly, term of office-bearers of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and Nepal Academy of Music and Drama ended on December 31.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Sunday called employees including administrative chiefs of all three Academics and the Undertaking and discussed on the matter of celebrating the Prithvi Jayanti.

Prithvi Jayanti would be celebrated this year under leadership of the Ministry. Discussion was also held for giving continuity to book expo, organised by Nepal academy every year on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti.

Prithvi Jayanti is celebrated on Poush 27 of the lunar calendar every year in memory of Prithvi Narayan Shah, who lead the unification of what is today, modern Nepal.
