Nagarik Unmukti Party MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary arrested



KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker Arun Kumar Chaudhary has been arrested.

Spokesperson DIG Poshraj Pokhrel said that Chaudhary was arrested by a team of Sudurpaschim Province Police Office from Kohalpur in Banke Thursday afternoon.

Arun Chaudhary is a Member of Parliament from Kailali Constituency-2.

He won the post of the Member of Parliament in the election held on November 20 last year.

Before this, he had contested the election twice. He lost both elections.

MP Chaudhary and three others were found guilty in an arson case that took place on Bhadra 3, 2065 BS.

Arun Chaudhary, Parshuram Chaudhary and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary were sentenced to six months imprisonment by the then District Judge Bishnu Subedi of District Court Kailali on 9th Baisakh 2070 BS.

The court also ordered to pay Rs 8 lakh 19 thousand 423.

Sajan Chaudhary, who was driving a tractor, had gone to Goranga river in Chisapani to collect stones.

While returning from there after loading stones, Arun Chaudhary and others stopped the tractor and beat thrashed driver and set the tractor on fire.

The tractor belonged to Mahadev Bajgai of Lamkichuha Municipality.

A case was registered against them and an order was issued by the court.
