POKHARA: Pokhara Avengers has defeated Kathmandu Knights by five wickets in a match today at the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground under the first edition of the ongoing Nepal T20 Cricket League.

With this win, Pokhara Avengers is placed in the fourth position with six points from three wins out of eight matches. Kathmandu Knights is in the third position with six points from three wins from six matches.

In the chase of the 165-run target by Kathmandu Knights, Pokhara Avengers achieved it in 19.4 overs at the loss of five wickets. For the winning team, Sumit Maharjan hit highest 76 runs off 52 balls with three sixes and seven fours.

Similarly, Captain Upul Tharanga contributed 58 off 49 balls with one six and five boundaries. Kushal Malla remained unbeaten on 14.

For the losing team, Kamal Airee took three wickets, and Anil Kharel and Abinash Bohara one each.

Invited into bat first after losing the toss, Kathmandu Knights made 164 runs in allotted 20 overs losing four wickets. For the losing team, Alex Blake made 64 runs, Suman Gautam 45, Virandeep Singh 32, and Ryan Burl 10.

For Pokhara Avengers, Tul Bahadur Thapa claimed two wickets, and Kushal Malla and Pratish GC one each.

Winner will get Rs 5.5 million, and first runner-up Rs 3 million.
