Doctors beaten up in KMC hospital, two arrested

KATHMANDU: Two people have been arrested for assaulting a doctor at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Hospital on Sunday.

Dr Manish Khadka, working as an intern at KMC Hospital was beaten up this afternoon.

According to District Police Range Kathmandu SP Kumod Dhungel, the police arrested two people on the charge of beating the doctor on duty.

Those arrested are 22-year-old Rupak Gautam, a native of Gulmi and living in Chabahil, Kathmandu, and 34-year-old Saroj Gautam, a resident of Sinamangal. They came to OPD. However, smashed the doctor for the latter’s request to be in the queue for their turn.

The doctors took to protest after the incident.

Earlier, doctors were beaten up at Sancho Hospital in Hetaunda, Manipal Hospital in Pokhara, Lamjung District Hospital, in Lamjung, and Madi Hospital in Chitwan. The doctors protested against the instances of brutal attacks and harassment against the doctors demanding their safety at the workplace.
